Welcome to the Pawnee Public Library

Interlibrary Loan

Pawnee Public Library is the centrally located facility that serves the 2,600 residents of Pawnee, Illinois. Our collection contains over 40,000 volumes and circulates over 18,000 items per year. The library also loans audio books, AR reading series, videos and music CDs. PPL subscribes to a wide range of magazines, as well as local and nationwide newspapers. Genealogy research is enhanced with the use of two microfilm machines and an extensive collection of the Pawnee Post Newspaper on microfilm. Various local historical photos, publications, coal mine maps and resources are available to our patrons. By clicking on the "Catalog Book" at the upper left, you can browse all of our collection. Click through our "books" to the left for local information, history and upcoming events. In addition to patron computers for internet use, the library provides free Wi-Fi connections. We invite residents to stop in and register for a library card. Interlibrary Loan Pawnee Public Library, in conjunction with Rolling Prairie Library System, provides the opportunity for our patrons to borrow books for two-week periods from other Illinois libraries through the Interlibrary Loan Program. Once a request is received and processed, delivery time can be anywhere from a few days to a month depending on the library the book has been requested from. (Brand new books might take up to six months.) Deliveries are made to the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and patrons are phoned with notification of arrival or unfilled requests.

Reciprocal Borrowing

In person, your Pawnee Public Library card will be honored at any RPLS library through the Reciprocal Borrowing Program.
